The last 2 months have been full of moments where I have been stretched. Specifically in my spiritual life and in leadership development as I navigate different situations. I often feeling like I'm being tested with how much I have left in my "caring tank".  I want to make clear that these times have been positive stretchings, not negative. I don't intend for this to sound like complaining, I take joy in wherever my #lifeofadventure takes me.

My two jobs require that I am a care-giver in different ways depending on the day. Whether it be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or sometimes a blend of a few.

There are times where I feel excited to step into new territory, especially in my pastor job knowing it will be a challenge, because in the past when I have continued walking into that new territory I grow closer to God. This growth comes from an utter reliance on Him that I need guiding me thru my inexperience. Learn...

"So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

Mark out a straight path for your feet so that..."

What's your guess? How does this quote end?

Think about it for 2 minutes. Write down your best guess. Then keep reading.

In our staff meeting this morning, my friend Jacob shared this quote (the full quote) that really struck me.

I was thinking how often I see through my Instagram and Facebook feeds, different kinds of motivational quotes leading to how to live a good life.

These kind of quotes are good to push us to become a better humans, but after hearing the quote this morning, I realized how many inspirational quotes we hold on to are inward focused.

Quotes like:

"Push yourself, 'cause nobody is gonna do it for you."

"Only I can change my life. Nobody can do it for me."

"Believe in yourself. Push your limits. Experience life. Conquer your goals and be happy."

Yesterday I was at work, when I got a text from my wife Laurel saying that our 2 year old Nova June wasn't feeling well. She sent me a photo of her laying on the couch, which is a rare sight in the world of this busy adventurous little girl.

I texted my co-worker Jacob, who is the lead pastor of our church, and asked if he could cover for me in the evening- as I was slated to share a video and highlight a thought from it at our Summer Mid Week Service.

This video was 14 minutes long, and it was based on the last few verses in the book of Ephesians, which was a good written by the apostle Paul, who dedicated his life to teaching new groups of believers how to live a life based on Jesus Christ's example and teachings. Often these new groups of believers had varied cultural or religious backgrounds, so it was a struggle for them to know how to love one another.

The last part of the letter to the believers living in Ephesus, was on Spiritual Warfare. Paul must have thought this was im...

Today is "Love Day". February 14th.

The day that you see endless posts about.

So many different opinions on this day.

I think today is a good day to reflect on what love is?

How do we limit ourselves in love or who to love?

Have we experienced the greatest kind of love?

What is the greatest kind of love?

I think its safe to say that the common answer to the question "Who do you love?", would be...

"My spouse, my family, and my friends."

Well, that is a good answer.

Let's think outside of this cliche, but true answer and take a broader look at the question: "Who else SHOULD we love?"

Here are the words of Jesus answering this question.

43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbour’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only tho...

It's a little daunting to come up with a name for a blog or website. Something that makes sense to you but can also sound appealing enough for someone's curiosity to be engaged.

As if the online world needs another voice! Is anything I have to say important to anyone? Who knows, this may solely be most useful to me, to sort out all the thoughts floating around in my head and my heart.

I wanna be truthful, honest and vulnerable with my thoughts. (Humility > Pride)

So what is something that I am passionate about, but also struggle with?

If some time passes between wilderness adventures for me, I start to get antsy. I feel gravitated towards canoeing far into the wild, to lakes where there are no others, other than my companions, and then enjoy all of the beautiful creation around us. I love that my eyes look upon the trees, rocky shorelines, and lakes with no interruption from seeing a cabin, a speed boat cruising by, or anything else man- made.

In my faith as a Christian, I do...
